lyrics
Running through the foothills
The wildies knew them all
It was just the kind of weather
When a twister's bound to fall
Sure enough it happened and
A crack rang through the air
As Lester Brown was chasing down
His runaway prized mare
She has joined the wildies
That free and fiery heard
But Lester thought he owned her
So he ran after her
On an Appaloosa stallion
He called "Sunny Sam"
With a pistol on his hip
And a lasso in his hand
Tell me 'bout the wild horses
The wind the rain and other forces
Tell me 'bout the your widowed mother
How she wasn't like the others
Speak it in the old language
Though I may not understand it
I can feel your words and wisdom
When you tell me how you dreamed
The Vision
When that tornado came down
You'd think that everything
Would've been scattered into pieces
But that was not the case
Not a single wild horse
Was harmed at all that day
But Lester Brown the cowboy
He was blown away
They tell me it's a legend
something no one's ever seen
But your Grandma the widow
Witnessed everything
Just as sure as I saw it
In my dreams as I slept
That twister hit the foothills
And it brought an end to Les
Tell me 'bout the wild horses
The wind the rain and other forces
Tell me 'bout the your widowed mother
How she wasn't like the others
Speak it in the old language
Though I may not understand it
I can feel your words and wisdom
When you tell me how you dreamed
The Vision
We didn't have a funeral
Lester's body was never found
But that Appaloossa
He's still out there running 'round
Still wearing that old saddle
With the shine all worn away
It's now a symbol of the freedom
That he gained that rainy day
The mare she's still with him
running by his side
they both get more graceful
With the passing of the time
They bore many offspring
Who will carry on
With a little bit of good luck
Freedom's all they'll ever know
Tell me 'bout the wild horses
The wind the rain and other forces
Tell me 'bout the your widowed mother
How she wasn't like the others
Speak it in the old language
Though I may not understand it
I can feel your words and wisdom
When you tell me how you dreamed
The Vision
